Students are nominated by their teachers each week, a random selection is drawn weekly, then each of those names go into a drawing for student of the month. Each student of the month receives a gift card from the office.

The JC Westside high school music department is hosting a Game Day Arcade tomorrow, September 9th from 12pm-5pm. All gamers are invited!
We will have video games, board games, D&D campaigns, and much more. Food, console games, outdoor activities, and Mario Kart Tournament included for $1 per hour.

Have you thought about being on the school trap team? There will be an open trap shoot beginning at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 16, 2022, at the Westside Trap Field located at 1055 Hill Top Road in Coal Hill. The trap team is open to anyone in grades 6 - 12. A Google form has been sent to all Westside students in grades 6-12 and must be completed if you plan to attend the open shoot. At the open shoot you will have the opportunity to shoot a round of trap to decide if trap is something you want to do this year. Taking and passing a Hunter Education Class is required to be on the trap team. A Hunter Education Class is offered at the school on September 24th. A separate Google form was sent out for the Hunter Education Class. Trap Team Registration forms will be available at the open shoot. There is a $20.00 membership fee that is due when the forms are turned in. The membership fee will help cover ammunition costs and team expenses. The open shoot is for past team members who want to continue to be on the team and for anyone who wants to try it and possibly join the team this year. The Westside Trap team is open to students in grades 6 - 12. It is divided into two divisions: the junior division for grades 6-8 and the senior division for grades 9-12. Trap team members must have taken and passed a Hunter Education Class to be eligible to participate. A hunter education class will be offered at school on September 24, 2022 for interested students. A date has not yet been set but plans are to have an open shoot where someone who has never shot trap before will be able to come and try it and see if it is something they want to do. Previous team members will be welcome to come to the open shoot. The open shoot is where registration forms will be handed out. Most of the funding for the trap program comes from grants and fundraisers, however, this year there is a $20.00 membership fee that will be due when the registration form is turned in. This fee will be used to help cover the increase in expenses. Once a date for the open shoot is set, an email will be sent through school email to all students in grades 6-12 and announcements will be made in the daily announcements at school. The email will include a link to a Google form they will need to complete if they are interested in attending the open shoot.
